LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) or PVC are the types of plastic used for most irrigation pipe. It is resistant to impact, moisture and offers good chemical resistance. It is a natural partner to barbed fittings of various sizes as it’s able to maintain a watertight seal around them.

For domestic irrigation, the most popular pipe sizes (and fittings sizes) tend to be 13mm and 4mm.

14mm is also often used, especially when 14mm dripline is involved as they share the same fittings. 19mm tends to be used for larger domestic premises or commercial.
